I think I ended up borrowing 40k for my undergraduate. That was a combination of subsidized and unsubsidized which were later consolidated. I suppose I could figure out the total amount (I have paid them off already), but that might be depressing. I did save the letter the bank sent me after my last payment… it said something like “thank you for letting us service your loan. Now that you have paid it off, are you interested in our other financial products blah blah blah.” So anticlimactic.
It was a good feeling though. No more loan payments? ROWR!
On the other hand, my spouse currently owes almost 200k (now those are depressing letters to open every month) combined from undergrad and grad school. Those are deferred at the moment, but we’ll have to pay those back eventually.
