I think the most important thing to write about is always going to be a person, not an event or a situation but a person you can introduce us to and get us to love and understand.
Sometimes the person is very different from the author, and sometimes the character has some similarities, but it is important to let a character tell his/her own story and do so realistically.
I don’t know I’ve been waiting for a book forever until I meet a character and wonder how I lived without knowing him or her. That’s the book everyone wants to write.
