You really have to feel that you can do it. Self confidence. I know how you feel because I thought I was very incapable too, but I tell you what, practice makes perfect. Start little by little, in streets that don’t have much traffic, just to get confidence. You can drive slow if you want in the beginning. Little by little you will feel more and more confident, believe me!
I agree with this. Do NOT overthink it. I put it off for 3&1/2 years. You can legally drive where I live at 14. Are you really gonna be outdone by a whole bunch of self-absorbed, retarded hick teenagers?
If anything, go with someone who has experience and put them in the passenger seat. That way, you can ask questions like, “Turn the wheel now? Should I slow down? Do I need to move over? Switch lanes now?”
You WILL get comfortable! My sister said it best when she said, “you need to quit freaking out. that’s probably why you can’t drive”
A few months later, I was comfortable with my driving.
