get rid of clutter
GAH! Clutter everywhere!

My husband and I “inherited” his mother’s house. She’s still alive. She won the house in the divorce, and when she remarried she didn’t want to live in it, and didn’t want to sell it, so she gave it to us. I am very thankful for such a nice house and no house payment, but it’s still full of her stuff… and it’s 5 years later!!! She is doing better about taking stuff with her each time she visits, but I am so desperate for more space! We have more stuff than we have floor, it seems, and it’s time to get rid of it.

Congratulations on becoming a Mama soon.
I apologize for being a pest about this but consider: If your husband’s mother dropped dead today, what portion of the
property would belong to her husband?
Also, one cannot remove someone’s name from a deed and replace it with another, unless of course the divorce decree spelled it all out. It’s good
that Mama will be with you in June so
you will have a month or so to get cleared out. Good Luck again and stay
healthy.

That’s a good point. Yeah, husband’s name was put on the deed during the divorce so that’s all good and well, but it’s a good point about her new husband… I doubt it would ever turn into a nasty situation, but it might be a good idea to go ahead and get that signed over legally just in case. It would be a good thing to do in case anything happens to us, too, really… that way at least the kids would have some resources.

Nah, you’re not a pest. :) Thanks for the advice!
