Stop using food to deal with loneliness and sadness (read all 7 entries…)
This was really tough this week 3 years ago

“My” time is after everyone goes to bed at 10, and that’s when I’ve been eating the last three nights in a row. I pledged to myself and my dietitian that I’m going to bed at 10pm from now on to try to avoid that pattern.

But the underlying problem of loneliness, and my sadness about that, persists. I am very aware of being very much alone in this world, despite being surrounded by a husband and children.

I really need to find a therapist.

hi

i read your entry and i hope you are doing ok. how about doing something special like having a bath or a foot spa all to yourself at that time. after all you dont want to lose your time. maybe a good girlie book that you can really get into, to help you relax and take the weight off your shoulders. I can completely understand the lonliness cos i’ve been there, although there were people around me but i just didnt connect. i feel much more confident now that i know i can make new friends and am a bit bolder in inviting people out for coffee. I feel that as i am the one who is doing the inviting, i dont have to rely on other people remembering me when they are planning to do something and if they forget i was getting offended which really doesnt work.
I work with alot of people who use food to deal with emotions and there are so many other worthwhile things that are more uplifting than food. anyway i’ll stop waffling now. i hope you’re ok.
