Declaration of Self
  • I am a husband who delights in the commitment that is marriage, who finds the wisdom to be both one and separate. I express daily my affection, support, and tenderness with my beloved.
  • I am a father who opens up joy, possibility, worth and excellence for my children.
  • I am a friend who is challenging and supportive. I am faithful; I share my wisdom and my belongings. I listen attentively and skillfully. I speak the truth with love, insight, and humor.
  • I am Transformational, extraordinary insight and creativity expressed through word, music, visual art, and technology.
  • I will generate justice, wholeness, integrity, openness, empowerment, and understanding. My enemies are: shame, divisiveness, ignorance, indifference, and legalism.
  • I believe in The Source of Love who created a universe filled with the greatest power: Love. I daily spend time seeking that SOL. I give my self to devotedly aligning with that Power.
  • I uncover joy and delight in hidden places.
  • I see the beauty behind the ordinary. I am concerned with substance rather than appearance.
  • I dream the impossible, believe it can happen, take steps to do it, and make it become.
  • I help myself and others discover our blind spots, as well as what we know but are not aware of knowing.
  • I have fun whenever and wherever possible, but not at the expense of others.
  • I choose my words with care, brevity, accuracy, and incisiveness.
  • I am open to the µ (openly infinite) possibilities of life.
  • I help people feel safe yet excited, accepted yet challenged. I learn skills to manage conflict.
  • I am aware of, and am intimate with my own darkness and hurtful behaviors.
  • I accept things and people as they are and yet challenge all of us to become finer still.
  • I act in the face of injustice, cry in the presence of pain, am moved by excellence in any form
  • I grow where I’m planted, transforming rather than re-locating.
  • I do not quit until Love is accomplished.
  • I live powerfully so that I could die at any moment and be complete.

Whether or not you make Self-Actualization a goal, you already ARE a self-actualizer. I can tell by the way you express yourself, what you are reaching for, and mostly by what you DO. Take it from someone who’s been at it for quite a while.
