make sure all my bills are paid on time (read all 2 entries…)
Untitled

I like to think that I am sensible when it comes to money. Moving out of my parent’s and into my own house has been pretty scary. I have a (possibly 40 years!) mortgage hanging over my head, and there are lots of bills to be paid.

Already sorted:
-Mortgage. Paid monthly.
-Insurance. Paid monthly.
-Electricity. Paid monthly.
-TV licence. Paid monthly.

-Pension. Taken straight out of my wages.

Need to sort out:
-Council tax.
-Water services.
I’ve already completed direct debit instructions for both of these, but after checking my bank statement I can see that no money has been taken yet. Need to find the phone numbers so I can chase this up (typically all I can find is a postal address which is no good seeing as they haven’t acted on the debit instructions in the letters I sent them previously).
-Gas. Will receive the first bill after 6 months of living at the new property, so that should be in June.

wow, you have really got a handle on this

good for you. I know many adults who can’t get the bills paid on time. And you have a pensioon program working for you as well. Good thinking.

Luckily I’m the type of girl that actually listens to my parents advice…eventually. They’ve always encouraged me to keep a savings account, and my dad started telling me to get a pension when I turned 18. Now I have a decent-ish job that offers a pension scheme I took the plunge and to be honest it all seems to be way too easy so far!
I’ve never had a credit card and I plan to never ever get one because I see a lot of my friends wasting away their wages (and spending money they do not have) and they get nothing to show for it.
I think I’ve got my priorities right and it’s reassuring to hear nice things like you put in your comment :)
