Twelve metres of RG-58 coaxial cable to relay the VHF radio signals from my quadrifilar helix antenna to my receiver is now on hand.

Oh my. I just about swooned. You’re speaking (low voice) 75ohm. Be still my heart.

If you start speaking hertz—I may just go into conniptions!

OK, I’ll lay off the heavy stuff. Before you know it we’ll have osculation, and that wouldn’t do on a family website.

We have a matched impedance, I’m sure.

My oscilloscope is in a perfect sine.

Oh yes definitely. Matched impedance. My antennae hummed when I saw your entry.

I spent my childhood climbing on roofs with my dad, putting up “Channel Masters.” This was before cable TV (75 ohm) in the mountains of NC (a place with a lot of “holes”). 300 ohm dual lead, running down 30 foot mast poles with standoffs (to avoid interference), maybe an amplfier or two—and directional VHF and UHF antennas operated with rotor motors.

All I am in life comes from those days. Standing on a very tall houses on a very tall roofs in the sunshine, working beside my dad who expected (and respected) as much from me (or any of my siblings) as he expected from the grown men that worked for him too. We (my sisters and I and one brother) learned to be smart and be respectful with others and work with our hands as well as our brains and enjoy a lovely days in the sunshine.

I looked at your antenna. With admiration. I’ll just keep sitting here hummmmmmminnnnnnnngggggg.
