Age 27 it isn't too late! 6 months ago

Got my drivers license last month and am enjoying the freedom. Wow, not as hard as I expected. I feel very accomplished!

I got my license at 18...

b/c my parents wouldn’t let me leave home until I had it, but I only started driving at 26. (it’s been two years, and it is almost 2nd nature now) I am finally feeling like a grownup, and I am so happy for all the time I spent walking, biking, and catching rides when I wasn’t comfortable driving. Most people never learn that there is another alternative.

It’s also nice to realize how much less gas I’ve had to pay for in my life, and that now that prices are really rising, I feel like it doesn’t hurt that bad because of all the money I saved in the past.

Kudos for learning to drive, kudos for doing it later than most people, and congratulations!

In college town I lived in was a very pedestrian friendly town. Why drive, go though traffic and fight for a place to park if it’s easier to simply walk a couple of blocks and waltz right into whatever establishment I was headed for. And I SO agree on the gas. Gah, about 60 bucks or so to fill my car! That’s a whole day’s work for me – well, that and a little more, but you get the idea.

Walking, carpooling, biking – it’s all great to reduce unnecessary traffic and pollution. We who did such things contributed to the care of the environment – at least that is what I tell myself!

Thanks for the Cheer!

completely agree.

I spent 8 years pretty green, b/c of all my walking, and local purchasing… now I’m learning how to green the other parts of my life, b/c I have no choice but to drive at the moment. My next goal should be finding a job with less of a commute:)
