i watched the great escape.
not so great. i was hoping that it would be one of those 1 & 1/2 hour movies. no. it had to be 3 hours long. three hours ! gah. it was so boring. and, personally, i thought the scrounger (or whatever he was called) was cooler than steve mcqueen.

Besides Spartacus...

I find 2001: A Space Odyssey utterrly painful to watch.

I couldn’t wait for Mulholland Drive to end and really can’t stand Titantic.

I know there are others, but those three are good examples.

I love Lawrence of Arabia.

Note to Caiti: No yelling at me over the boat movie. We’ve had this discussion. :)

Kel needs to get other stuff done!!

YES!

My film-freak friends thought I was a mutant for not liking 2001!! Once I began writhing on the floor making caustic comments, they got pretty upset with me. :)

I didn’t wait for the end of Mulholland Drive, although I like Nick Nolte as an actor.

I woul consider myself

a film freak, in that I love foreign, classic, and artistic films. I even find Fellini’s later films entertaining to watch.

Thus, I respect 2001 from a technical point of view and would love to see it in Cinerama, which is the type of theater it was created for.

However, that film is utterly boring. I think Stanley Kubrick was either hit or miss throughout his career and to me this one is a miss in that it has no entertainment value at all and most of the artistic messge is rather oblique.

Even Amarcord? Satyricon, maybe!

Okay, you can be a film freak, but not a intellectually snobbish one, okay? I do, however, admire your use of “oblique!” And just hours ago I was trying to figure out how to insert “chin music” into a sentence! :)

Kubrick hit or miss, yes. As a movie lover but not movie freak, I’d agree in my less sophisticated way. I thought Barry Lyndon was another writhe-inducing experience.

Don’t you east coast people sleep at night??

I actually

love Amarcord and really like Satyricon. However, I an understand why people would not like either of them. All it means is we have different tastes.

I also love Goddard.

I am getting ready to go to sleep now, but I have been staying up a lot later recently.

Uncle's opinion

does not make you right, my dear.

You know what a piece of shit I think that movie is. It’s not romantic. It’s pretend, schmaltzy romantic. There is a HUGE difference.

UNCLE !

the english teacher is doubting us !
maybe we should tease him about his eye again(:

I'm not doubting you

I’m telling you that I hate that movie and think it is the worst film, except for maybe Crash, to ever win the Best Picture Oscar.

I am stunned to learn that Uncle like that movie. Absolutely stunned.

Uncle Enore is calling the NakedDumbass to The Light

Holy shit!

Just give me a couple minutes and then you listen to my response to Jamie’s silly comment up there.

Uncle Enore is calling the NakedDumbass to The Light

God, you are SUCH a hypocrite!

You call “Titanic” ...pretend, schmaltzy romantic and have the BALLS to write something like THIS Hallmark tripe for JENN?

SNAP OUT OF IT, MAN!

Unc slaps Jamie across the face and shakes him, spittle flying.
