Bicycle 4000 miles in 2008 (read all 7 entries…)
3,463 2 months ago

With the product launch (hope hope hope this expletive thing’s out the door tomorrow or there may be 43Screams :-) and the kids’ soccer season starting, August was a lighter month. Barring calamity, I will finish the goal on bike-cation in northeast Oregon the week after next. If I can really pile on the miles, I may supersize this to the 5k goal just to keep the challenge going.

For the month: 14 riding days, (9 dry, 2 heavy rain, 2 light rain, 1 with wet roads); 434 miles, 2 days were above 90°F.

Geocaching

I made a route list of ~35 caches that look promising. One of the SAG drivers is also an uber-cacher and wrote me earlier in the week. I hope to introduce myself.

I’ll let you know if they mention any details about next year’s route – it’s a big enough event that they’ll have started some of the planning for it now.

But in general, registration for multi-day rides this year was insane. For example, Ride Around Washington sold out on January 3rd, two days after opening. In previous years, it’d make it until mid-July before filling its 200 slots. That may have added more pressure to CycleO.
