tikini tikiniland ~ where it is always summertime

see the Democratic Party reinvent itself and take back America! (read all 19 entries…)
Today I picked up a No on 8 yard sign

And it sits in the front of the house, proudly among the Obama signs all over this neighborhood.

In the parking lot I drove through, along the freeways I drove upon, there were no McCain signs.

I am beginning to think maybe this is actually happening. America is waking up, as if from a terrible nightmare, and is determined to do something about the dishonesty and dislike for anyone who isn’t on the same narrow pathway that has ruled this political climate since Bush took office.

I think the government and some of...

...society might take on a bit different flavor and cant, yeah. And some approaches to things will be different.

But I think people who believe that he is some extraordinary savior sent to change everything and cast out the evil Anti-Christ, Bush, will be sadly disappointed.

I’ve seen the “saviors” come and go for over 45 years now…and here we sit, mired in the same old shit that we’ve been discussing for those same 45 years.

there's a little wiggle room

between saviour sent and emerging evil anti christ.

I know it’s Sunday and all, but ….

One of these men is intelligent and the other only has random thoughts and self interest.

One of these men is idealistic, and the other is self centered.

One has managed to capture the endorsement of a major political party and carefully treads the party lines, and the other is a puppet of his party.

A little scrutiny shows a lot here.

That's interesting.

I’ve scrutinized…and don’t see those things at all.

no?

Do you wish to elaborate?

Well, by golly, you betcha I would.

I think both men are intelligent. Because I may not agree with one of them more than I may not agree with the other, has nothing to do with their intelligence…it just means I agree or disagree. I don’t think that people are not intelligent just because I don’t agree with them.

ALL politicians act out of self-interest and ego and a hunger for power. I don’t mean they are wild-eyed megalomaniacs, but if you think one is selflessly boiling in the milk of what can I do for my fellow man and the other is motivated by self-aggrandizement, you and I see two completely different political worlds, my agreement or disagreement with one or the other aside.

And I suspect that your comments about who is a political puppet and who is just in agreement with party lines would vary depending on where one sits politically. The politics of the Republicans are not mine, but that doesn’t mean that McCain is some witless hack being controlled by the evil behind-the-scenes puppeteers, while Obama dances without strings to his own tune.

Still, you did put a fairly nice spin put to it.
