find a great place to live (read all 12 entries…)
This is getting me down a bit.

I’ve been looking – nay, scouring – for a great place for what feels like quite a while now. I don’t need an enormous place – I just want an extremely well maintained, well-laid out and pleasant place to call home. No tiny boxy rooms; no single pane windows; no bathrooms so small you have to turn sideways to flush the commode.

I’ve seen plenty of up to date places that were way too big. Plenty of small, choppy, haven’t been updated in 40 years places.

Is there no market for what I’m looking for – does no one build or want the same things I do?

I’ve reached out to a real estate agent, as all my searching to date has revealed only one or two decent possibilities. I’m going to see them this next weekend; hopefully, the agent will be able to pull a few more choices out of the ether so I can get this goal completed.

I just want to move on to the living part of the equation, rather than being stuck in the find stage.

Oh, yeah...

And if it’s a rental you’re looking for, remember that in the current environment most rentals you’ll see are the houses that the owner wants to get rid of, but can’t sell exactly because it is a less desirable property.

Cheer up. If you can stomach purchasing something, rates are really low, building material costs have dropped because of lower demand and contractors are desperate for work, so there’s never been a more golden moment for you to build something that exactly suits you.
