Give up chocolate for Lent (read all 17 entries…)
When does Lent officially start? 9 months ago

The big question is: are we allowed chocolate tomorrow?

I think we are. I think Wednesday is the first day to go without.

Kind of dreading it. I’ve managed to eat up all the chocolate in the home, so i’ll probably buy one small chocolate bar tomorrow and that will be my last until Easter!

I agree

Lent officially starts the day after Shrove Tuesday – the whole pancake thing arose in order to use up stuff in the house that was being given up.

Or so I’ve heard.

Whether that story is historically true or not, that’s how I remember when it starts.

Shrove Tuesday

I’m really hazy on the whole historics of this thing. I always get it muddled up with passover and the unleavened bread.

Oh well, i don’t do it for any sort of religious reasons anyway!
