learn to swim (read all 2 entries…)
I'm now a professional. :)

Not quite, but having only been 4 times to the swimming centre since I was 5, all in the space of 2 weeks, I am completely comfortable swimming, in all deepnesses of the swimming pool. XD

I’m not saying I’m that good, however I am able to easily stay on the surface of the water and swim pretty fast doing the freestyle and back stroke. I can also change these positions and do open turns without going under the water. I can also swim under the water, which is actually quicker than at the surface, but a lot more tiring.

The answer to anybody scared to swim, is two things- the will to try, and goggles. Goggles are the most helpful things I think, as without them, seeing underwater is just a complete blur, and makes it more frightening. Just get goggles, and you’ll be fine. :)

My next steps will be to try and swim faster and to improve my breathing capacity.

Good luck everyone, I hope this helps. :)

Goggles

Thanks for the tip about goggles!!! My first swimming lesson is coming up and I’m going to make sure I pick up some goggles!

:)

Yess, they are definitely the best things for swimming, I don’t know how people do without them, its so much easier when you an actually see in front of you underwater :)

Good luck with your swimming lessons ::)
