I am finding my drawing speed with the pen increasing as my confidence grows with the medium. It has certainly been helpful to ban myself from pencils and, more importantly, erasers.

I find i am thinking more critically about each mark I make and whther it is really necessary for the drawing to succeed. I am also looking at the objects I am drawing more carefully as the pen does not allow a lot of room for error. Finally, I am finally learning to accept the intrisically flawed nature of my drawings in pen – I think it is the wiggle and the mis-steps that make the drawing more interesting and creative.
