move to California (read all 26 entries…)
So,

I have a bunch of houses bookmarked, a couple of which would be a lateral move for us. I basically know where I want to land, I think, but would be open to something else. Most of the saved houses are in Roseville, near the bike path – which I love, because it’s this little oasis of nature in the midst of the developed area. Trader Joe’s is nearby; also a big plus. :)

The really difficult thing will be finding a job. My current boss is the best on the planet, and it will be disappointing to have to settle for the pay cut which will certainly be coming, and my age and inadequate education will work against me. Good thing I interview well.

I really hope we can do this in the next year – year & a half. There is only a tiny window of time during which your grandkids have the time and inclination to allow you to be a huge part of their lives, and I don’t want to miss that. My daughter & son-in-law do fine, but I know they could use some actual family support from time to time, too.

Not to mention the very thought of winters that do not include massive amounts of snow, ice, and sub-zero temps is so appealing I almost can’t bear it!

Thanks

for the good wishes; and you are too kind.

And sadly, the truth is, I don’t even have any desire to go far any more! Not in the realm of the workplace, anyway. Must be getting old …. :)
