get a car (read all 16 entries…)
Got stressed out

doing research yesterday, but at least I have a plan now. Will aim to go drive cars next Saturday afternoon. This week during my breaks I will figure out which cars I want to drive.

Did I mention I really hate this? I am probably the only person in the world who hates car shopping so pathologically that I have managed to go several years without getting it done. lol

I was looking at the Yaris

I’m leaning towards buying a used car outright, though, and not getting a loan. I was hoping my next car would be new or new-ish, but my work situation and income is still a bit up in the air and I’m worried about committing to debt when I don’t know what I’ll be able to pay monthly towards it.

Thank you for the recommendation – will definitely keep it in mind as I go through this process. :)

There might be a slightly used one out there...

I bought mine 5 years ago and plan to pawn it off on my sister in 1.5-2 years when she starts driving (mine has 2 doors and I insist I’ll be needing a bigger car by then).

My payments were leas than $300 a month, but I totally understand, as your work situation is nearly as random as mine is these days :)

There are some used

but not many. If I can find one with the right miles etc., I’ll snap it up. :) There are a number of small cars in the used market I’m looking at. What I really want is a Honda Fit, but I probably can’t afford one. The take home income I’m sure of for the fall is just over $1000 a month, so $300 is a lot (plus gas and insurance). I’m almost certain I’ll make more than that, but that’s what I’m sure of at this point, so I’m a little nervous.
