For all you parents out there

What is your favorite part of being a parent?

I have two favorite parts … so hard to narrow it down to just one thing … wait!!! Ok, three things. :)

1. Excitement. I love how excited my son gets about EVERYTHING!!!
Mama: “Would you like some toast?” Like he has had every day for breakfast for HALF his life.
Toddler: SQUEAL … then … “WOW!!!!!!!”

2. Watching him learn. It is amazing how quickly his little brain learns things … such a sponge. Most times we tell him what something is and he will remember what it is the next day. He repeats everything constantly … yes, we have had to watch our swearing. Unfortunately, it is so cute and funny to hear him say a naughty word. It is so hard not to laugh and, therefore, encourage the swearing. And I love how he can be totally entertained by a zipper for 15 minutes … pulling it up and down, trying to figure it all out.

3. Love. I have never loved another person as much as I love my little boy. I am constantly amazed at how I can just sit there and look at him and melt. He is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me and I cannot wait to meet his little sister in March!!!

Goob

Who is Goob?

Goob

Is our dog. He’s a one year old chocolate lab. Sweetest, goofiest dog who ever lived. And he and Aary love each other. They’re equally happy just sitting in the front room, watching each other. Haha

Dog

I am having a really hard time right now dealing with my dog. I can’t stand him and am desperate to get rid of him. The way I talk makes him sound like a horrible animal, but he really isn’t. He’s house-broken and very sweet. He just needs some manners. I have to admit that it would take no time at all to train him. Unfortunately, my husband and I are lazy (when it comes to that kind of thing) and would rather spend our time playing with our child.

Anyway, I really want to get rid of him and I really don’t want to get rid of him. The only reason I really want to keep him is for my son and eventually for my daughter. I don’t want either of them to be afraid of or allergic to dogs. Also, my son and the dog play together.

So, I guess I just need to get off my lazy butt and train my dog. :)

It's hard, I know.

How long have you had him?

We had Goob before I had any idea I was pregnant, so we were already working on training long before I lost all my energy to Aars. Haha.

We had some behavioral issues with him when we brought the baby home, because he was so used to having my full attention, but he’s much much better now. I think he was overwhelmed, since we’d moved house not long before, and then there was this tiny new person getting all the attention…

What kind of dog have you got? What’s his name? How old is he?
