When I was in undergrad I used to volunteer for the Humane Society by letting puppies and kittens that were too young to be adopted live with me. They are eligible for adoption at eight weeks old, so I fostered two Boxer puppies for four weeks and three kittens for about two weeks. It was an extremely exhausting but fulfilling endeavor and I plan to start doing it again in the next few weeks. I can’t wait to post their adorable pictures!

Thanks PrettyBaby!
You are absolutely correct in saying that adoption is the best option, but to my dismay I won’t be able to have a pet until I finish school (which will apparently take an eternity). Thanks for your support and your cheer, I really needed it! Sadly the Humane Society had an outbreak of diarrheal infections so none of the animals are currently being fostered. Your bird is very pretty, what type is it?
Fostering and adoption are better than buying
He’s a cherry-headed conure. A lovable earful.
It’s a shame they won’t let the foster families take animals home on anti-diarrheal meds, but I can understand the reasons.
BTW, I didn’t mean to say that adoption was better than fostering, but that (both) are better than buying. I wish I could do it, but my situation won’t allow it just yet. Good luck with the furries!
