Naptime

Often I will come home and fall asleep around 5:00p for a few hours, get up, and then not be sleepy when “bedtime” rolls around at 10:30p or so. But I really can’t tell if napping is messing with my sleep schedule, or if my body clock is just seriously honked up….because I frequently forego the nap, and getting to sleep at bedtime isn’t any easier.

It doesn’t help that most nights the Man doesn’t come to bed with me. But that’s a whole other kettle of fish.

Does anyone know anything about melatonin supplements? Do they work? Are they habit-forming? I just want to stop feeling like I got hit by a bus when I wake up in the morning.

I wish I was one of those people who knock out at a moment’s notice, and can sleep anywhere. My dad is one of those. I sort of envy him.

Annnnnnd I should probably stop stimulating my brain with blue light and technology earlier than I do. But 43T doesn’t give me my cheers till late at night!

Sad face,

I have this same problem (which is why I’m here now). Supposedly, a shot of protein will help. I’ve eaten a spoonful or two of peanut butter when in a pinch. Also, hot showers are supposed to be helpful too—as hot as you can stand it!! Then put on jammies and immediately curl up in bed. According to my psych teacher, your body then has to lower its core temperature, which causes sleepiness.
