like sitting in the mall, just watching everyone go by, I think of some of the statistics floating around out there that somehow never seem to apply to anyone we actually know. Somehow, “no one” ever has anything to do with any of these things, has never had anything to do with anyone who has, and yet, someone is lying. Maybe everyone.
I don’t expect anyone to answer these, because that’s my point. People doing these things will just lie, like everyone in the mall.
Nope. Not me.
So, if you think of all the wonderful people here on 43T as being sort of like me sitting on a bench in the mall and everyone is just milling around and walking by, I think…
There are thousands of prostitutes in Canada. Yet, apparently no one I have ever known has ever used a prostitute. Who among them is lying?
No one ever uses those massage parlours either, or a blow up doll.
No one I know has ever been a prostitute, or worked in a massage parlour, or been an escort. Nope.
I don’t know anyone who sells drugs either, or uses anything more than pot. Hmm…
Who is involved in a gang somehow, either actively, or just laundering money or some other association?
Who is part of a hate group? Or has strong racial hatred?
Who in this mass of people wandering past abuses their child, or elderly parents?
Who is involved in child pornography, or goes away on holidays to places like China or Taiwan to have sex with children?
Who is gay, but married to a straight partner and is lying to them?
Who steals stuff? Maybe even just shoplifting..
Who has raped someone, or attacked someone, or has been in jail for a violent crime?
Who in the crowd has committed a horrible crime and gotten away with it?
I don’t think like this all the time, and I don’t think it’s cynical at all. I just read articles all the time about things like there being thousands of prostitutes in Edmonton alone, and think “so who’s using them?”, or the reports about gang activity and other crime, and think “so who are those people, and how many of them are right here in this mall?”
So, I wonder who those people are here on 43T too.
