For many years, the “world’s largest shoe tree” stood along the north side of Highway 50 about 125 miles east of Reno. Then, in January of 2011, some “dastardly vandal” cut it down. Now, people have started tossing their old shoes on another cottonwood tree just to the west of the original one. My picture is of the “new” shoe tree.
