Daily: Reflect on 5 things for which I'm grateful. (read all 50 entries…)
June 15, 2012 Gratitude

I need to do this, but I don’t feel like it. I had a great day, an unusual, busy and fun day, but it ended with another one of those stupid fights. I really just feel like curling up and going to bed, but I’m not going to let it ruin today. SO, Today I am grateful for:
1. Being asked to sing harmonies at my friend’s gig and getting to rehearse today. It was so much fun. I love doing back ups and she’s super-talented and hilarious.
2. Hoop class! More fun and I was sweaty and panting by the end of it – always a good way to finish ;)
3. Being thanked and appreciated for last week’s school canteen.
4. B splitting my wood and lighting a roaring fire.
5. The chinese cook book my mum gave me – it has the best, most simple, delicious recipes! Tonight I made sweet and sour pork and fried rice – YUM!
I feel better now. Goodnight :)

I've just read all your recent posts

to catch up :) But I like this one the most. It takes a lot to remember that a day has been good when it ends badly. Why do you think we humans do that? Focus on endings? Maybe it’s because we’re natural story-tellers. Damn our advanced simian minds! Good on you for overcoming this built-in pitfall! I’m gonna do this next time that happens to me.

Endings

Someone once said to me during a rehearsal, “People only remember the beginning and the end, so as long as you nail those, you can f*@# up everything else and you’ll still be remembered as great!” I’ve never forgotten it. I try to remember it for my prac exams and essays, too! I think it’s another one of our time-saving/minimising-brain-function techniques (like making generalisations about people and things, based on their similarity to other things we’ve experienced). Not sure how “advanced” that makes us! More just… lazy.
thanks for your comment. I resisted doing this goal for a while. I didn’t even like reading other people’s posts in it. This is always a sign that it’s probably something I really need. I’m go glad I’ve started now
