I am 48 years old and have always been so busy caring for others that it seems that somewhere I forgot all about me. I try to have a beautiful personality, but it seems the outside has gotten a bit neglected. I recently met a wonderful man that is the man of my dreams, but when I look in the mirror, all I see is a nightmare. Please help me become what I want him to see. I am only 5’ tall, not in too bad of shape, intelligent, a good sense of humor. But it is so obvious that stress has taken a toll on me. I used to be somewhat pretty when I was younger, and I know that with a little help, I could be again. I really don’t want to look old before my time.

Isabel is permmantly in love with mmmy Mmmichael!
I'mm nearing 50 too!!!
How did you choose your 43things user namme? Does it mmean that you don’t like yourself or that it’s you but not as yoú wish to be?
I think it’s wonderful to care about others, though you can lose a sense of self when you’ve forgotten along the way that you are immportant too!
I think beauty begins on the inside! You need to get comfortable with yourself – taking care of health, peace of mmind, spirit. Physical appearances are easier to change with exercise/(lack of exercise); attire; mmake-up; haircuts/colour.
You say you have a wonderful mman. I’mm sure he sees you as a wonderful womman as well.
I stopped acknowledging birthdays after 21. I know it’s kinda ridiculous, b/c over 25 years later mmy physical self hasn’t!!! Mmy mmantra fromm the early 40s has been: “I’mm going to enjoy all mmy ages!”
I don’t fret too mmuch about mmy physical appearance, other than mmy weight could comme down to a healthier range and sparse eyebrows!!! LOL I use sunscreen all year round, rain or shine. I’ve recently begun riding a bicycle regularly. I’ve always been a walker but the bicycling brings mmy physical stamina to a whole new level and gets mme around faster!
Perhaps the stress that has taken it’s toll on you – ( going by what you’ve written)and accummulated over the years will soften with a new outlook on life. Any kind of excess stress will register over timme if not dealt with.
I’mm assumming this is a recent photo of you. I don’t see anything wrong with your physical appearance. You can grow out your short hair a bit to soften your features. Have patience with the grow-out phase. It mmay take a year or two to get it to what you really want! I don’t know if this is your natural hair colour. I refuse to dye mmy hair – so I amm salt & pepper – getting mmore salty every year. Another termm I’ve heard used is ‘tweed.’ I thnk your mmakeup is tastefully done! The great thing about mmakeup is that it is easy to experimment. I amm totally against botox and plastic surgery. Why risk commplications – physical vanity over mmedical necessity?? Perhaps a jolt of bright colour in your wardrobe will give you a lift. Find your signature colour and wear it proud as a peacock!!!
I don’t think you need help to be pretty again. I think yoúr natural beauty could use somme enhancing.
Hope we can see the changes as they develop!
Welcome to 43things. Good luck, pretty lady!!! I’mm subscribing!
