Learn Spanish (read all 2 entries…)

Untitled  — 2 years ago

I know a little bit of Spanish, since I grew up with people who speak Spanish and they would teach me words every now and then. My mom is fluent in Spanish, but she usually only talks to me in English. I’m still building my Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I’m practicing on becoming fluent.

Several days ago, I taught a class of students who mostly spoke Spanish. Most of them couldn’t understand me when I spoke English, so I had to talk in Spanish…I was very surprised at myself of how much Spanish I knew and the students even began to think I was fluent…they started talking to me in Spanish (too fast and I could only catch a couple of words to know what they were talking about). I guess immersion is sometimes the way to go.

spanish is beautiful indeed, and not so hard to learn…
just wanted to say i really like your nickname, too :) (bananapancakes)

Hi craving! I have some Spanish CDs to help me learn the language, but I haven’t listened to the CDs in a while. I need to start listening to them again because I really want to start communicating with people in Spanish.

Also, thanks about the nickname comment! I just looked through your entries and saw that you had a “make banana pancakes!” entry. I couldn’t understand what you wrote since I don’t understand French. I’d love to read what it means if you ever decide to translate it. I could tell it’s good though, since you marked it “worth doing” and mentioned Jack Johnson!

hey thanks for replying :)
about the banana pancakes, i wrote the entry in French because I wasn’t so sure of my English (which still sucks)... so I thought it was easier to write the whole thing in French (this is what I actually say in the comment).
a little translation for you, even if what I say is not much interesting :

“all this because of this song, banana pancakes from jack jonhson… everytime i was listening to it, my desire was growing and growing until becoming unbearable. so I did it… you just need the right recipe :) and the result was even better than what I was expecting, so I can only advise you to make banana pancakes” :)

buena suerte en espaƱol ;)

=)

Thanks for the translation! Your English sounds fine to me. The banana pancakes song was the reason for choosing this username. I haven’t even eaten these kinds of pancakes before. I’ll probably try making some one of these days.
