To live instead of exist
A question about this goal: What is living instead of existing? 2 years ago

Hopefully you’re asking because you’re already living life deeply and that’s awesome!

But if not, you should know you’re not alone. There are a good number of us that for whatever reason got swept up in the details of living… we put our heads down to “get through” one day, one week, one month and then?? Well, we woke up a few years later and decided that just getting by wasn’t good enough anymore. I’m not saying it’s wrong to struggle through a day now and then, but if you find yourself consistently living for the weekends and resenting all the other stuff you have to do in your life, maybe you’d like to join us and start making an effort to be a little more aware of your feelings. Start allowing yourself to experience your day instead of just shutting down your mind when boring chores or difficult situations come your way. If this new awareness starts to make you unhappy, the solution isn’t to shut the world out again and start ignoring how difficult your situation is, but to start making changes. That’s what living life means to me. It means being aware each moment of the day even when it’s hard to. It means not letting myself zone out to get things done. It’s not possible to be happy all the time, but it is possible to be aware all the time. It may sound like a bad idea to want awareness during the rough/uninteresting moments of life but as far as we know, you’ve only got one life. Are you going to pay attention to each second or are you going to let situations rob you of more and more moments as the years go by? The older you get, the easier it is to add more tasks to autopilot mode. Don’t do it! It’s a slippery slope. Suddenly you might realize that not only are you sleepwalking through the drudgery of life but you aren’t even present for the exciting moments.

I need to get me some cheers.

You almost made me cry with this. I wish I could give you a hug. I need a hug right now.

Awesome answer this is exactly right it wasn’t until I got laid off from my most recent job that I realized that this is what I’d been doing. losing my job was the best thing that could have happened to me it gave me clarity and your answer summed up my sentiments very well.

Beautiful, just beautiful. Cheers
