Here’s what he wrote:

Hi,

I’d figured something along those lines. Working on the basis that either I had over stepped the mark, which I only did because my reading of you is that’s what you wanted. Or I just scare you because you think I want a lot more than you do or I’m too much like the ex’s. Ce la vie.

It’s a bummer, because I reckon your well worth knowing, and I mean that as a friend. So I think it would be nice if we could stay in contact, and by all means let me know if you want to go for a bike ride along (local area) or something else.

In typical fashion, he’s assuming that he knows what I did/do want… and better than I do myself. Both incorrect and annoying… but at least he seems to be accepting my decision. Most importantly, accepting it without my having to explain how irritating I find him.

Hopefully that’s the last of that.

Yeah, it's that same...

... ‘I know better’ attitude. I-rri-ta-ting! His whole first paragraph is a complete contradiction… honestly, the number of times I had to keep reminding him that I only wanted to be friends… sheesh!

I didn’t respond to his email, so there’s no more encouragement. I’m going to leave his number in my phone for a while, so that if he happens to ring I’ll be able to ignore him.

Finger crossed that Flowerman’s got too many other things to concentrate on when he gets back…

I hope so!

I started last night but realised that I’d be better off following the pattern rather than hoping it would work out on a slightly smaller set of needles. So I’m about to head out to grab the right size needles and then get to knitting with gusto.

Are the seed pods from gum trees. That Aussie icon, the eucalypt. They were worn as hats by the little bush babies in May Gibbs’ stories. She wrote a lot of cutesy stuff in the early 1900’s.
