Book Doctor

I talked with my agent about doing another rewrite. She was new to the business when we started together about a year and a half ago. She’s since had a lot of success and learned a lot, and was very excited about a rewrite. So now the book is in the hands of a book doctor (editor) who I used to take classes from. I’m waiting for her notes and thinking about possible ways to up the stakes in the novel.

Kind of stuck

I am still thinking about the book and making notes, but after rewriting the first three chapters several times, I am feeling kind of beaten up and like I don’t have a clue what I’m doing.

I do have a couple of ideas that I think will make a difference. Right now I am working on shorter projects.

Thanks for asking!

I see this is kind of old

But still, have you ever gone to the Big Sur writer’s workshop?

There are agents and editors there, and your work is read by both, and you get comments from both as well as from your assigned groups.

I went a couple of years ago and it was well worth the time and effort and the money.

Since the fires last year, in fear there would be collapses along Highway One in the area, it was moved to Monterey.

Thanks for the tip

I went to a writer’s conference a long time ago, and I’m feeling about due for another. Too bad it moved so much further north, but it’s still driving distance.

I’ll check it out!

I may go again this year

especially if that escrow closes like it’s supposed to
