One time I saved up $2500 and put my two kids in the car and pointed it West. Though I knew where I was headed (California), I didn’t know the stops along the way. And it was a blast. Oh, to do that again!
Reaching back into my memory
Katie was about 9 and Nix was 5 – or thereabouts. We stopped in caves, went to every hokey tourist trap we could find and at night we’d stop at a motel with the only requirement that it have a great pool. There we’d float out under the stars. I recall one place in the desert. The room was musty but the pool and spa ajoined, the night was cool and the sky was a wonder.
We got lost a few times, too! And made up stories along the way. Dang that was great fun!
That did sound like fun...
well now your kids are older and you wouldn’t get away with that now. I remember some trips my folks and I took after my bros left home. Dad would ride all the rollercosters with me. Fun!
