My latest furbaby (kitten) comes from an abusive home. One of its siblings was killed by a child who place him in a dryer and left him to suffocate. He and his remaining siblings were turned out onto the street (near two major trucking routes, I might add) to fend for themselves. My baby wound up in my backyard near our building-in-progress and my husband fed him there. Then I brought him inside to be assimilated into my cat Borg.

We just contacted his former owners today and got permission to keep him. His other siblings look very poor and underfed. We suggested that the owners take them to the shelter as they obviously aren’t caring for them.
