So you’ve washed Muslims killing people for 45 years. It is clear that the little picture I’ve drawn trying to explain this mistaken situation was not very explicit, I guess. So, let’s be more specific; there is Islam on one side and the followers on the other. It would be really not fair for a religion to take hits due to numbers of uneducated people who lack solid Islamic knowledge. Accepting that you’re Muslim and not being informed about the principles of the faith, and act upon them, does not make you a follower of Islam. And I believe this is true for any religion. Unfortunately, if you would look at people and judge according to their religion teachings, then at least 90 percent of the entire population of the planet will be dramatically guilty. To give you an example, look at history, Hitler and his Nazis group who massacred Jews with the attempt to eliminate them from the planet; the complete destruction of entire cities like Hiroshima and Nagasaki (Japan); take a look at communism and the excessive persecution they carried in Russia and its colonies; how about slavery in Africa during decades, one of the most atrocities ever seen…Were the responsible for these crimes Muslims? Yet, I would never judge any religion responsible for these shameful acts. And I could go on and on, talking about the blood shreds during Christians’ wars throughout the 15th century, where countless innocent people were killed in the conflict with the Protestants. But to me all of this is just due to the corruption of mankind, period. Yes, this is part of human’s nature that shows up especially when they have a certain authority to govern. Religion actually brings them peace so they can settle down. Nevertheless, we see that the result remain the same. Because you might be born and raised within a religious community, but if your practice of the religion is very light or not taught in the right way; you’ll have more chance to go astray. That’s why you see in certain countries that have socio economical instabilities some individuals have brought their traditional political issues in the ideologies of religion; sadly many countries of the Middle East fall in that group.
Another cause that makes the Muslim situation a little particular is the fact Islam is unknown by many people (outside the community) especially, the West. Thus, Muslims are more categorized with their religious beliefs. Consequently, a crime that is committed by someone in the Muslim community would be considered as “a Muslim offense”. But if the same thing was done by a non Muslim, then it would be just a crime (i.e. people automatically forget his religious belonging). So I will end with this; personally I am not looking for any confrontation or argument, all that I’m interested in is conveying an accurate and positive message of Islam as true Muslims are supposed to do. If you could travel around the world (the five continents) and have a physical contact with other Muslim communities, then you would see that there are still many that hold on to the truth teachings of our beloved prophet (puh) without adding any falsehood to the Islamic Sharia (laws); and those are the ones who really understand Islam.
I think you always had a certain approach of Islam for about 45 years now; but that was really a partial reality sir.
