learn to fall softer
to improve life in general 4 years ago

this applies to failure, rejection, etc.
why is it good to fall soft? so you can get back up again, so you won’t be down as long and get kicked quite as much
falling is good
failure is good
but i want to fall soft

Perhaps, Aikido.

I found this helped with the fear of falling (physically) which leached over into the other kinds of metaphorical falling. There’s a lot of noise falling when you hit the mat, but it means the parts of you that are tougher are absorbing the force. Protecting the softer and more vital parts. Scares those around you but you know better.

done and should do again

i actually studied aikido for a little while a about six months ago. i stopped because i could not find the time to devote so i could absorb the mentality completely. thank you though, it is a good reminder and maybe a mindframe that i should look into achieving again.
i found aikido to be a dance: an exchange of energy and connected motions. somehow i found a release of fear not in the effects of falling but in the initial act, leaping up and throwing my body gracefully towards the floor, trusting myself- knowing that i can recover through the flow of my body/energy->being. maybe this is what it means to fall softly.
