I think I'll give this a try 3 years ago

Hosted a “celebration of life” at my theatre. The dead guy, for lack of a better term, was a life coach. Through the celebration I got a good impression of him.

So I looked into this whole life coach thing. Part of it seems a little dodgy (love that word). The other part looks very up and up. I think having someone pushing me and challenging me would be a good thing.

I’ve spent an evening researching life coaches in my area. Many coaches offer over the phone coaching, but I think face to face would be more pursusive, so I would like someone local.

They offer a 45 minute introductory session so I’ve picked three that sound good, next step book those sessions and hire one.

A bump in the road

Well lets see, how do I put this. . .I finally told my wife about this goal and she acted as expected, she thinks it’s a waste of our money.

Dilemma: Respect my wife and not do it, or do it and don’t tell her, or try to convince her it will be a good thing (very long shot) or ?

Maybe this is another option

There’s a very good book called “Coach yourself: make real changes in your life” by Anthony Grant and Jane Greene (published by Pearson Education, 2001, ISBN 1843 04013 1). A book may not be as good as an actual person, but one of the authors established the world’s first coaching psychology unit at the University of Sydney, so I think the material in the book is soundly based.

Hmmm....

Tough dilemma. Probably not a great idea to do it on the sly. Sort of goes counter to the whole personal growth area thing. Could you guys arrange a situation where each partner has X amount of discretionary funds that he/she is allowed to use as they see fit each month. No hassles. That way each person has freedom to explore their life a bit without breaking the bank and without violating the trust of the other. Just a thought. Good luck.

I’m a life coach. and as part of our training we have to be coached. WOW!!! how different it is being coached than coaching yourself. HUGE!!!.

See what you can find. there are laser coaching, intro offers, reduced rates.
etc.

Your wife, Have you explained what life coaching is? what you want to accomplish? Choose to do what you need to do but respect her opinion by giving her the chance to voice it.
