learn to cook better (read all 12 entries…)
Major realization today 2 years ago

I was eating dinner and I realized that I take all sorts of supplements to compensate for my diet. I probably spend more money buying vitamins and minerals than I do buying quality food. This is crazy. If I ate better food (instead of junk and vitamins) I would probably feel better and save money.

Living in the U.S., I have access to some of the finest things available, and also the worst (fast food, junk food, etc.) I need to make better choices in terms of what I eat and take advantage of the quality food that is available to me.

Time to get the garden going. I can at least grow some items at home to help with my diet.

Comments:

well, with: soil depeletion, growth horomones, pestisides, the unethical treatment of fruit, (they pick unripe fruit, dye it and sell it to you, and most of the nutritional value is lost) and junk food tasting so great. healthy eatting is difficult.

what type of vitamins do you take? I retail vitamins, so I love to hear what people take.

I mix them up.

Mostly I take a name brand multi-vitamin (Centrum multi) and also one that I buy from a health food store. This way I figure that I have a better chance of absorbing the vitamins.

I also take iron since I tend to be anemic.

Do you have any recommendations?

Antioxidents are very helpful, to prevent free radical damage. I retail OPC-3 -its a triple antioxident, grape seed, pine bark, and red wine extracts powerful stuff. its isotonic so its the same pH as your stomach so it can be sent into your small intestine for absorbtion in 5 minutes, unlike pills that have to be broken down in anywhere from 40 minutes to 4 hours.

I’ve heard centrum does have a good absorbtion rate. I havent researched it yet.

If your intrested in OPC, let me know. Its really helped me, i dont have to take IBprofen for pain anymore.
