I was recently nominated as a volunteer in the Pacific Islands. My job description is establishing conservation areas, developing species management plans, promoting ecotourisms, and activities involving SCUBA. For me, this is the best possible nomination I could have imagined. It sounds like a dream job to me. I just finished my medical exam and am waiting for test results before sending them in. After that, does anyone know about how long it takes to recieve an official nomination? I’m getting a little anxious. And to anyone thinking about joining, just start the process. That will be the hardest part, and if you change your mind later, no big deal. Good luck to all

Let keep in touch ...
Hey there Huskr -
Congrats. Sounds like a great PC gig. I’m a PCV in PerĂº. I’m a little jealous, I’m a divemaster, but my recruiter wouldn’t consider any dive-related assignments because I didn’t have any marine-bio credentials.
Anyway, I’d like to keep in touch with you for a project I am developing (not as a PC volunteer, but as a private citizen).
I’d like to keep my project quiet for now, but suffice it to say it will be VERY Peace Corps friendly. I plan to pull the trigger on this as soon as I close my service.
My e-mail is davefer_work@hotmail.com if you down with it, please add me to your MSN list. I’d be happy to help you thru the training/adjustment phase—it can be painful.
Best of luck.
