Live in a foreign country for at least a year
Untitled

I spent three weeks in Colombia as a vacation of sorts and also to have LASIK surgery done to correct my vision. My intention was not only to see my family that I hadn’t seen in eleven years, but also to get in touch with my roots and get a feel of where my family comes from.

I figured I’d have fun for a short bit but then be homesick wanting to return to my comfy way of life back in the United States. Lo and behold, I became so enamored with Colombia that I was actually dreading having to come back home. I loved it so much that I actually want to go back there to either live or spend a lot more time than three weeks.

I am aware that finding employment there is almost impossible, but one of the biggest differences I noticed is that unlike here, at least in the city where I live, there’s actually time to enjoy life aside from the day to day responsibilities.

Unfortunately I had to come back to finish college and graduate in September but, assuming I can pay off my loans within a reasonable amount of time, I intend to return and live there, at least for a while and we’ll see how it goes.

You know, I am from Peru and I really want to go back, I know what you are saying, it is just hard to get a “good” job over there. But people live their life at the fullest. They seem to be happy.

In my case, I know I can make more money here but at the same time, I get to live my life over there…....so I am trying to figure out how the heck I am going to do it…....

what a dilema
