watch all the Firefly episodes
Once Again, Too Good for TV 3 years ago

This is the best show that I never watched (while it was on, that is).
It was a busy period in my life and I never even knew that it was on…so sad.

After watching Serenity, I said, “Well, that was an odd yet interesting little movie…why was everyone speaking Chinese?”
Later on, a friend said, “Oh, nonononono – that movie is much better once you’ve seen the show, Firefly.”

We watched it, loved it, and bought it.
Now we try to recruit others into the ‘Verse whenever possible :D

(Serenity Spoiler)

A fellow browncoat! I saw Serenity first too and thought it was pretty great, but after watching Firefly it was MUCH better :)! I’ve even gotten about half a dozen friends hooked :). If there were any possible way that it could come back (certainly not after Serenity, Wash and Book are too much a part of the show and have a place in my heart.) I would campaign, I would get everyone I know and see on the streets to watch it, it would get the best damn ratings in the history of television with the work of its fanbase.

NO MORE WASH!

Yeah…the only two options I really see (being a big lover of Wash) are
a) A Prequel Series
(But, then, there’d be no Book)
b) That we all pretend that the movie never happened and that Wash and Book are both safe and sound…and still flying.

How do you draw your friends in?
My (unsuccessful) conversations generally go:

_Me: Hey, have you ever seen the “Firefly”?
...tumbleweed blows by…
Me: It’s the great show – it was on for a very short time and-”
Candidate: Why was it only on for a short time…?”
Me: Well, it was cancelled._

And then no amount of back peddaling can get me extricated. It’s my own fault for being too honest – we should just invite family friends over and then casually pop in the (real) pilot, but eh.

I’m leaning on the second, a logial way could be to continue Firefly as if Serenity actually hasn’t happened. Prequel would also leave out Simon/River, which could really disappoint some people. I think continue the series and after a few episodes allow plot holes to show up and I don’t think people will whine about how that conflicts with Serenity. My conversations go something like this:

_Me: “Hey have you ever seen Firefly?”
Friend: “No, what’s that?”
Me: “Oh, it’s the greatest show ever, you have to watch it! I can lend you the DVD’s if you want, but you have to see it!”_

If I mention the show getting taken off, it’s something like this:

Me: “This is why I hate Fox, they totally screwed up the show; they played the episodes out of order, and didn’t advertise it at all! The fans still love it though, they spent so much money on advertising trying to bring it back including a full page ad in the New York Times, this show is so great!”

I usually say something like that ☺.
