I belong to a flying club that has 40 members and 3 airplanes. The airplanes are all 4 seaters and each one is progressively bigger and faster. For flying buffs they are a 1976 Cessna 172, 1976 Cessna Cardinal (177) and a 1976 Cessna 182.
The club is the most economical way to own an airplane. Granted there are pitfalls and maintenance surprises, but over all it is a good experience. In addition, if I ever want to own my own airplane 100%, then I have this experience under my belt and contacts with the club to use a mentors or advisors.
The club is Gateway Flying Club in Anoka, MN
