run a marathon (read all 7 entries…)
I did it! 3 years ago

Sunday, the 30th, I ran the San Francisco Marathon! Wooo! I made it in just under 6 hours (my only real goal) and my legs were damn tired! As has happened in the long training runs, the first 10 miles went by very quickly. The second 10 were realllllly long. Mostly because so much of it was in Golden Gate Park and I think the scenery just didn’t change enough (despite being an amazing park). I was fortunate enough to have friends and family there cheering me on. The AIDS Marathon group provided a shuttle bus so they could be at two points along the marathon and then at the finish line. Let me tell you it was fantastic to happen upon them and get a boost of energy. (thanks everybody!).

So will I do it again? I think I might…since I keep telling myself what I’ll do differently next time. Next time…

Congrats

to you! Crap, and you did it in this heat??! Awesome.

Hey, I have to post some pregnancy pictures for you to see…I have a cute little belly now….

The heat abated

Thankfully the West coast heatwave had moved on by Sunday. It was in the 60’s (maybe the 70’s) in SF on that day. It was a good running day.

Good Job

I’m so glad for you. You should definitely be proud of this. I think it’s great that you had friends and family cheering you on along the way. I have volunteered to run the ambulance along the way for our local marathon. I’m always impressed by the runners who do it not to win but just to do it.
