I was on a camping/kayaking tour with Spirit of the West out of Quadra Island, British Columbia. We were on the Johnstone Strait. This group of Orcas was nearing our group as we sat out on the water. This fella apparently wasn’t aware how close we were because he broke water right under my paddle. If you look closely at the foam and just to the left of my paddle handle, under the water you can make out the black and white of his body. It was a thrill.

WOW!!!!
I am so envious! Did that happen today? Today I gave a speech taxes, and now I am hiding on the second floor of the university library fumbling on my computer till it time to visit the local karate studio so that I can learn kick boxing…….and cross it off my list.
I long to travel again and will have to contain that overwhelming urge to just go until I am finished with college. On till that time I hope you don’t mind if I live vicariously through you.
It's a Good Life if you don't weaken!
Hi Phoenix,
Thank you for the note. I used to study Bando, which is the Burmese equivalent of kick-boxing. That was a lifetime ago, before I lost all flexibility. You are welcome to live vicariously. Happy to oblige. You can see more on my blog:

Are you a grad student? I was one of those once also. It was a great time in my life although I too worked my butt off.
