Make my trip to the USA happen! (read all 5 entries…)
I`m always amazed 2 years ago

by the topics one can actually find books about on amazon! I was daydreaming about going to California (instead of working ofcourse). If I go on a 4-8 week summer course, I don`t think it would be a good idea to bring the dogs, to put them through the flight and all the stress for a few weeks. But if I do ever decide to go for a bit of a longer period, like studying there one semester for instance, I`d have to bring them. And I`ve no idea how that would work, where I could stay with dogs, what the laws are for keeping dogs in California, where I could bring them etc. But it turns out I need not worry. There`s not one, but actually quite a selection of books about travelling and living with dogs in California! Plus, similar books for any other place in the US. Wow. ;)

I will

take that input into consideration then. ;)
So, if should only visit one us city (I`m thinking of visiting more than one, but anyway) which one would you choose?

Only one???

Well, being an east coaster, probably NYC…its quite the metropolitan area. Interestingly, its pretty unlike much of the US…I love NYC.

Yes

I`d love to go to NYC as well! Definitely on my list! And I have to go to more than one city ofcourse, I was just making you pick a favorite. ;)
NYC is expensive though, isn`t it? On the other hand, maybe no worse than San Fransisco and Los Angeles?
But I shouldn`t worry about that really, I just saw some new research that showed that Oslo is the most expensive city in the world. So any other place should seem quite inexpensive to me. ;)

nyc

not so expensive, maybe even less expensive than the West Coast cities.

I’d add in that I think places like Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami and Washington DC are very “Americain”

but really you need to come to my Mums house and see these to get a real idea of how diverse and interesting America can be….

Why choose?

If you can take the time, I’d suggest a road trip from one coast to the other. If you stay off the Interstate highways, you can get a genuine feel for the different regions of the country. (The problems with the Interstate highways are that the roads themselves, being expressways, have little character, and they are lined with corporate businesses [restaurants, stores, gasoline stations] that are depressingly similar and “homogenized.”)

In any event, I hope you like your visit!
