When I wsa growing up I had a buckskin quarter horse and I learned to ride through local trainers and US Pony Club. When I was a teenager I road at the Pony Club championships and got my B rating. I used to do combined training/eventing until college. At college I rode on the equestrian team, but it was very different. you would show up at the show in breeches, boots and helmet and draw a horse’s name out of a hat! It was a major challenege to get a schooling horse around a decent course. I was thrown at state- but still loved being around horses. After I got married and moved away my family sold the horses and I live in a city now. Good luck with your goals everyone, you can do it!
Jumping horses was the most powerful feeling I have ever experienced. It is the most intimate communication with an animal and a real partnership. Enjoy it!
