vicious cycle,
dirty habit,
I wonder why I ever tried it?
smelly, dusty,stnking truth…
I wouldn’t try it if I were you.
slow poisons running thru my system,
if only I could just resist them.
Comments:
Controlled smoking.
A certain percentage people have defective genes which slows or prevents the secretion of cytochrome, a liver enzyme that breaks down nicotine. This causes the nicotine to build up and be more stable. Therefore you can smoke less and be less addicted. Watch out though – not I know many people that for years only smoked social, but later on got hooked.
If you can quit it easily now, do it before it is too late!
trying to stop...
I have began to eleimnated all the conveinent places I smoked, like my car, my house, in front of my partner and kids. I think its dirty because of the smell and the way it can become dusty in a closed are that is smoked in, how it turns walls yellow and teeth. I always blow it away from others and my self but my hair always soaks up the smoke smell. I am trying and will continue to until I can quit. Thanks for the input and have a great night.
no, still puffing...
but I set this sunday as my new quit day, and I have recently finished the book I was recomended- Allen Carrs How to quit smoking the easy way, I really liked it and I am hoping it has given my a little more motivation than before. We’ll see by monday if I’m a raging nut case, then I’ll be starting over again.
Another option
A lot of people have given up by reading “Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Stop Smoking” He takes you through a different process of thinking about what you are doing. At the end you stop no patches, no willpower. You decided. You move on.
I have just stopped after 40 years, I am keen to help others from falling for the same loop.
I don’t work for the organisation.
Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Stop Smoking
Why dont you give us Carr’s ideas in a nutshell? This way we will know if it tells us something different from what we already know?
Allen Carr
AC is a 73year old English accountant who is now dying from Lung Cancer.
About 25 years ago he was smoking up to 100 a day and was desperate to stop.
Allen thought it would be of no use but then the revelation happened. One of the articles explained that when nicotine leaves your body it creates an empty insecure feeling.
The moment you light a cigarette the nicotine is replaced and you feel more relaxed than the moment before.
“I’d wiped out all the other reasons that smokers give for wanting to smoke, or they certainly didn’t apply to me and as I was reading this article, it suddenly dawned on me that that was the only reason I smoked.
When I was without cigarettes I got the panicky feeling, but when I lit up the panicky feeling left so I was fooled into thinking that each cigarette was giving me some sort of crutch or benefit.
Once I knew that it wasn’t a weakness in me, which I’d believed before, I knew I would never smoke again, but I didn’t expect it to be easy. I expected it to be terribly difficult complete with the withdrawal pangs, but it wasn’t.”
One of the appealing things about him to me is he is not too smart. There is not a huge amount of psycho babble.
He says keep smoking while you read the book and you will stop when you finish.
If you look at what this guy has done over the last few days and the changes in his attitude

and it is happening as I write.
Ask him.
What I found about addiction theory

Seems about right to me
Look I stopped by myself a few months ago without Allen Carr, but I have stopped before. Someone mentioned this to me and it just seemed so clear. I am now trying to use the same method for stopping drinking.
This is the first time on 43T I have communicated with someone who has no things, it has the feeling of talking to a ghost
not a ghost here...
thank you for your advice, I can really use it. I am amazed at how I can make sure all the details of my life are taken care of, except the nervous, edgy feeling that screams MARLBORO RED…NOW. I am not much of a drinker because I act pretty stupid when drunk and get drunk easy, I dabbled in all types of other substances, over five years ago, and was able to walk away from it, but smoking really has my mind convinced I’ll feel incomplete or awkward with out a smoke. I feel like everyday for the last month I have tried to quit smoking, only to smoke out a paniced shaky feeling in my body.
I will be looking into Allen Car, Thanks to you again.
ToddieM is thinking he needs to drink more water
