can you – yea but you better do it quick because november on things might get really really fucking cold (especially in the mountains). volunteering mostly depends on your languange skills – the more the better and if you ask around at hostels and camp sights you could find odd jobs here and there to make a few bucks. as for getting around well the easiest and most flexible way is for sure a train pass but thats not all that cheap. low cost carrier flights can help but you need to plan in advance to get the best prices and you dont get too much flexibility. they most flexible and most crazy way is to bus/car share and hitch hike. i only hitch hiked once while i was over there (in Hungary) and all worked out well so it can be safe but as with anything you gotta make the call. good luck. safe travels
Check out WOOF – Workers on Organic Farms – for some cool volunteer/work trade opportunities.
As far as camping.. oh u surely can.
With regards to volunteering.. as fmatranga said, depends on what languages you speak.
When you say you’ve been across the whole of US on foot, u mean u literally travelled the entire country? Damn.. that would be super super cool. How was the whole experience.. have an online diary?

year later my truck brtoke down and i hadn’t gotten there yet so cuz of all the amazing places i stopped. i started bought a us trail map and started walking. i hitchhiked a bit but mostly walked. after 3 days of staring into the oocean day and night i decided to see the rest. i came hone almost a year ago this week. ready for more. i don’t usually go online and pretty much stay off the grid…
