I think the world has gotten too cynical… I think I’m getting too cynical. What’s wrong with a little magic, a little wonder? Right now, it seems like most people could use a little wonder in their lives, but would they believe it if they saw it or would they rationalize it into a neat, little compartment? Would they even see it—those walking around talking on their cells or using their I-pod headphones, busy trying to get from point a to point b without actually seeing where they are going? There’s a little magic all around, but nobody ever really looks.

Good point

A little magic could go a long way in today’s cynical world and I seem to get more cynical by the day-but 43T seems to do well for me-there’s a lot of optimistic folks here and that definitely helps.

What would you classify as magical? Or how would you (personally) recognize something magical?

Hmmm...

A lot of little things… my favorite song coming on the radio right when I’m feeling blah… a stray dog insisting on making you his friend while you’re on a picnic…finding out your new college roommate from Kenya is the same person that was suppose to be your penpal in high school, but you never wrote…or in a similar vein finding an email address for an old friend (who I had lost touch with three years back) that only happened because I had messed up something earlier and had to check the places website. I’m sure many people would write these off as coincidences, but I prefer to see them something special. (I think it’s my inner idealist coming out)

I think the problem

is that we are constantly bombarded by bad news. Bombings in Iraq, war in the Middle East, hurricanes, shootings on the six o’clock news. You see it on TV, on the internet, in magazines and newspapers. It’s easy to become cynical in the age of information, especially when so much of that information is unpleasant. There is wonder and magic everywhere, it’s just having the clarity of thought to see it.
