be attentive to others (read all 18 entries…)
The Spirit 3 years ago

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the watersGenesis 1:1-2

That is beyond my imagination: the Spirit of God moving upon the face of the waters.

Who is He? One can understand God. One can understand Jesus. Who understands the Spirit?

Is He the essence of being attentive to others?

The Spirit

Is that part of God that lives inside of you. He is not the essence of being attentive to others but rather the essence of being attentive to Him. Once you are attentive to Him, it becomes easier to be attentive to others.

A mystery

Is the Spirit the essence of being attentive to God? I don’t know. Is he the essence of being attentive to others, I don’t know.

Here are some Bible quotes, after some research.

It is us that ask for the Spirit:
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Luke 11:13

The Spirit is indeed in us, if we have Him:
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:16-17

The Spirit is knowledge and fear of Jehovah, but not only:
And the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah. And his delight shall be in the fear of Jehovah; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears; but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his waist, and faithfulness the girdle of his loins.
Isaie 11:2-5

Proverbs 2:2 is all about being attentive, seeking attention, from God (which is spot on your answer).

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee; So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding; Yea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding; If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures
Proverbs 2:1-4
