From what I read, buying a house is a nightmare. You endebt yourself for life, and for what? A cookie-cutter thing slapped together by people who care nothing for quality. I’ve read Rob Roy’s “Mortgage Free” and find all of his arguments for building your own home convincing.

And with the housing market today who would consider buying? Conditions are terrible. But even when the bubble bursts, would I want a home slapped up quickly by some myopic speculator? I don’t think so.

Today I rent. Tomorrow I may have a trailer, or something else temporary. But one day I will build my own home.
