Two more saved before I completed the goal. One on August 31, as I was rushing to work-late. But it was cold and raining, and he was doomed by the chill that made him too cold to move. Then yesterday I saved a baby snapping turtle-not an Eastern box turtle but still a worthy species. This was the first snapping turtle I’ve actually seen up close, and they are absolutely prehistoric. Ridges running down the spine and a vicious looking beak, which opened to hiss when I picked the turtle up to reveal a very fleshy pink mouth.
So this goal is going to become a way of life, even though I will mark it as “completed.”
