immigrate to canada (read all 2 entries…)
Untitled

Ironically, I am thinking of this even when I haven’t been there. My study permit to this country has just been provisionally approved by the Embassy in Beijing. I think 2 weeks later, if I am lucky enough, I could get the visa.
But I take this journey a huge opportunity to find a new atmosphere, establish my new attitude to life, and get away from some of the people I don’t like but I can’t get rid of.

I think Will is right.

Just to make sure I looked it up:

Emigrate describes the move relative to the point of departure: After the Nazis came to power in Germany, many scientists emigrated (that is, left Germany). By contrast, immigrate describes the move relative to the destination: The promise of prosperity in the United States encouraged many people to immigrate (that is, move to the United States).

Will wishes to emigrate from Beijing to Canada.

Either way we should cut him some slack because I’m betting his English is better than our Chinise.

And don’t try any of that machine translation stuff on me.

My Thai is better than my Chinese. Chicken Cashew, Go See Me, Fried Cheese Wan Tans.

Strange thing: When I was in Paris I had to order Madagascan food off a French menu. I speak neither language.
